From Netball to Volleyball: Revisiting the Lessons of Pivoting, Precision, and Progress

In 2021, I reflected on how netball taught children (and adults) the power of “pivoting”—a metaphor for resilience and adaptability in the new normal.
Today, volleyball is expanding those lessons: sharpening coordination, anticipation, teamwork, and attention to detail.

When Deep Thinkers Transition to Fast-Paced Workplaces — The Hidden Struggle of Thoughtful Professionals

Ever moved into a new industry where thinking suddenly felt like a luxury? Where speed mattered more than sense — and reflection seemed “too slow”?

One’s ability to be mindful of limits and acknowledge possibilities plays an important role in leading a healthy professional life. Today’s professionals need to develop new capabilities to address complex challenges in innovative and humanly possible ways. There is no better time to stay in your lane. What works for the Jones might not work for you, so stick it in.

IN ACADEMIA, YOU NEED A ‘BROBELLA’

The support provided by a vigilante group is synonymous with what a brobella offers in academia. The research journey can be lonely. Don’t travel the journey alone, join community groups and professional associations, look for mentors, keep learning, get brobellas.

‘Vlogging’ your way through Online Classroom Engagement

The online learning space has transformed significantly, which has encouraged many educators to adapt and innovatively device new ways of teaching and learning. The new ways of teaching and learning have equally got me thinking about the future of work for the graduates in the post-COVID era. COVID has presented a testing ground for how aspiring professionals will work in the near future.
